President Kiir in Ethiopia for bilateral talks, regional summit

ADDIS ABABA — President Salva Kiir travelled to Ethiopia on Monday on a diplomatic mission, his office said.

Kiir arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on Monday evening on a trip said to be aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

He was received at Bole International Airport by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, along with officials from the South Sudanese Embassy in Ethiopia.

Kiir is expected to engage in high-level discussions with the Ethiopian leadership, focusing on issues of mutual interest and regional cooperation.

Further, the president will hold meetings with several heads of state who are currently in Addis Ababa for ongoing high-level summits.
