‘Is she okay?’: Dramatic Stanbic Bank advert raises injury concerns

JUBA – South Sudanese on social media have reacted with concern following a Stanbic Bank South Sudan advertisement in which a young woman dramatically crashed on a hard floor.

In the video acted by two staff, a young woman stands with her back facing a male colleague who encourages her to fall back onto his arms.

She then throws her balance backward, but the man let go, leaving her to helplessly shatter down while the colleague walks to the camera to convey a message; “They say you cannot trust anyone, but you can always trust Stanbic Bank.”

The scene prompted viewers to speculate that she might have sustained an injury.

“Can someone check the medical condition of the lady who just broke her backbone?” said social media user, Richard Ruati.

“I feel like that wasn’t acted well. Stanbic Bank could have come in time to save the lady from falling,” Chol Matiop.

“Dani Mapour Adet hopefully the girl is okay,” said Ajak Atem.

“Hah, hell nah, we can’t trust you, you just let her fall like that,” said another.

The video advert was captioned: “Not everyone will catch you when you fall…But Stanbic always will. Happy Customer Service Week!”
