Court adjourns Nasir incident trial to Friday, despite defense objection

JUBA – The Special Court presiding over the case against eight SPLM/A-IO officials charged over the Nasir incident has adjourned the trial to Friday, October 3, following the prosecution requested for it saying the investigator was tired.

During the fifth hearing that saw a massive public attendance on Wednesday, the prosecution and the police investigator presented witness testimonies to the court off camera.

The usual live coverage by state-owned SSBC television was halted upon the judge’s request to protect the privacy of witnesses.

The prosecution then urged the court to adjourn the trial because, in their words, the investigator was tired after presenting witness statements on four of the defendants.

The defense rejected the request for adjournment, but the judge decided to adjourn the sitting anyway, to Friday, October 4, 2025.
