BOR – The Executive Director of Intrepid South Sudan has raised concerns about “steady rise” in criminal activities in Bor town and the entire Jonglei State.
This followed a series of robberies, the latest of which involved traders from Northern Bahr El Ghazal, who were attacked and robbed of millions of South Sudan pounds in Bor.
ISS Director Bol Deng Bol raised the issue of rising crimes in the state during a monthly Rule of Law Forum, involving various stakeholders in Bor, on Friday.
He appealed to the law enforcement agencies and the state authorities to curb the trends when its still under control.
The forum, funded by UNDP, brings together the High Court, Legal Administration, Mayor of Bor Municipal Council, Operations, Police, Prison Service, Ministries, Special Protection Unit (GBV), UNMISS, INGOs, NGOs, Civil Society Organizations – all to share updates in terms of successes, challenges, opportunities and plans.
A concerned citizen recently took the state government to court for its alleged failure to arrest individuals who robbed traders in Bor.
