CID officers arrest robbery suspect in Gumbo Sherikat

JUBA – Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officers have arrested a suspect in the recent shooting dead of a motorist in Juba town – in what was described as a successful operation in Gumbo Sherikat, Juba.

A police statement released by Deputy Police Spokesperson Major Lith Winston Simon – stated that the murder case was registered or opened at the Northern Police Station.

“During the operation, the CID team apprehended the second suspect, based on information provided by the first suspect in custody. Although the suspect attempted to resist, he was subdued,” it noted.

“A brief misunderstanding arose when the Tiger Unit temporarily stopped the CID vehicle, mistaking the mission for a crime in progress. The issue was immediately clarified, and the operation proceeded successfully.”

Following the arrest, senior officers praised the professionalism of the CID and the support of the Northern Police Station, emphasizing that the police remain vigilant and determined to bring offenders to justice.

The statement added that the National Police Service remains strongly committed to safeguarding lives and property and to working tirelessly to ensure security and stability across the Republic of South Sudan.
