Official donates $45,000 to community tournament as salaries go unpaid

JUBA – The Executive Director in the Office of the President, Ajiing Deng Ajiing, has pledged a total of 45,000 US dollars to Bahr El Ghazal Counties Peace Tournament (BCPT).

The donation which is equivalent to 263,250,000 South Sudan pounds will be distributed among Twic, Abyei, other counties and Cultural Groups.

It raises brows especially as it comes at a time when government workforce has gone unpaid for months.

The pledge includes 15,000 USD for the Abyei Football Team, 10,000 USD for the Twic Mayardit Football Team, 10,000 USD for the management of BCPT, and 10,000 USD for the Twic Cultural Group.

The BCPT is a community sports organisation that has been hosting football leagues for Bahr el Ghazal Counties, in Juba. The tournaments seek to promote peaceful coexistence among the communities.
