DR Congo’s Yoane Wissa and Aaron Wan-Bisaka arrive in Juba ahead of World Cup Qualifiers

JUBA – Newcastle forward Yoanne Wissa and West Ham’s Aaron Wan-Bisaka landed in Juba on Wednesday as part of the Democratic Republic of Congo squad that will face South Sudan in FIFA World Cup Qualifiers on September 5.

Wan-Bisaka, who previously played for Manchester United has recently switched to represent DR Congo after being snubbed by England.

The 27-year-old represented both countries at youth level, although he played considerably more games for England.

In Group B, South Sudan and DR Congo will have a mouthwatering showdown at the Juba National Stadium as part of Matchday 7 of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

South Sudan currently sit fifth in their group with 3 points, while the “Leopards” top the table thanks to an impressive haul of 13 points.

The two sides have only faced each other once before. DR Congo narrowly claimed victory last March over South Sudan, with Theo Bongonda scoring the decisive goal.
