Man, pregnant wife shot dead, 5 children abducted near Juba

JUBA – Unidentified armed assailants killed a pregnant woman and her husband before abducting their two children and three other minors in Aru Junction, Lokiliri Payam, east of Juba City on Monday, authorities said.

The incident occurred at 11:00pm when the victims were deep asleep. The deceased couple are Agnes Moyo and Abraham Lado, and their abducted children are 7-year-old Zakao Jada and 4-year-old Thomas Ladu.

“I am writing express our disappointment for the lack of civilian protection by the Government and the recurrent incidences of abduction and killings in Lokiliri Payam, of Juba County,” said Rev. Dr. Paul Benjamin Yuguduk, Archbishop of Central Equatoria Internal Province, Episcopal Church of South Sudan.

The gunmen further abducted Daniel Tombe Joseph who is one and a half a year old, 6-year-old Jamal Tombe Emmanuel and 4-year-old Isaac Lado Emmanuel. The perpetrators reportedly escaped towards northeastern of Juba.

“We condemned this barbaric incident and urge the government to investigate and apprehend the culprits,” Yugusuk said.

“We expressed our heart felt sympathy for the loss of Mama Margaret Kiden and Dominic Lado Okolo and may God console all the families and the Aru community at this difficult time.”
