Dada Isaac democratically elected leader of Kakwa community in South Sudan

JUBA – The Kakwa Community in South Sudan has elected Dada Isaac Lemi as its new leader in what observers saw as a peaceful, credible and democratic process held at Nyakuroon Cultural Centre in Juba, on August 16.

Lemi emerged victorious with 191 votes, surpassing his opponent, Hon Jacob Aligo, a current Member of Parliament and Minister of Peace Building, who received 102 votes. The newly appointed leader will hold office for a five-year term until 2029.

The winner is also a government official – the current Director of Administration and Logistics at the National Communication Authority. He brings a wealth of experience, having previously served as a teacher, entrepreneur, and youth leader. He holds degrees in Economic Development, Business Administration, and Development Studies.

The Kakwa Community, inhabiting a region where the borders of Uganda, South Sudan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo converge, has a rich cultural heritage.

Dada Isaac Lemi who hails from the Kakuwa Community of Lainya County, Kou na Tambura (Kupera & Wuji Payams) will lead the community for a four-year term, until 2029.
