𝐉𝐔𝐁𝐀 – President Salva Kiir has tasked newly appointed Western Equatoria governor and his deputy to travel to the restive state and work diligently to restore stability and social cohesion of the people.
Speaking during the official swearing-in ceremony of Governor James Altain and his deputy Justin Joseph Marona at State House in Juba, Kiir emphasised the critical responsibility placed on the new officials to address the mounting insecurity that has plagued Western Equatoria over the past few years.
Altaib and Marona took the oath of office alongside national officials such as the Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, James Mawich Makuach, and the incoming Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning, Yien Chan Ruei.
President Kiir also directed Minister Mawich to prioritise the provision of clean and safe drinking water across the country.
The President urged the appointed officials to work in harmony, stressing that the only way the government can meet the expectations of the people is through cooperation and commitment.
The appointments come at a time when Western Equatoria has been experiencing escalating communal violence, displacement, and other security challenges.
