JUBA – The prosecution’s first witness in the trial of eight SPLM/A-IO officials continued presenting the SSPDF report on the Nasir incident with several video footages of the violence.
Maj. Malual Deng narrated the events that followed the fall of Nasir to the White Army, including what he said was execution and mistreatment of wounded soldiers allegedly by the White Army.
Deng alleges that deceased White Army leader Tor Gile Thoan was an SPLA-IO officer. He says Tor was replaced by Kang Makana who captured the garrison and is held responsible for the killing of Gen. Majur.
Deng also discloses government efforts in Juba to involve a third party in the evacuation of 55 besieged soldiers including late Gen. David Majur.
He highlighted guarantees and assurances given by Dr. Riek Machar to the evacuation mission but added that orders were not followed on the ground, leading to violence during evacuation attempts.
The 24th session was then adjourned to Wednesday, November 26, where the witness is expected to be cross-examined by the defense team.
