BOR – A public discourse championed by INTREPID-South Sudan has resolved to form Electoral and Constitution-making Forum tasked to carry out civic engagement and education in Jonglei State.
The public discussion, supported by Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA), focused on peace, security and youth inclusion in constitution-making and decision-making processes in the state.
It was attended by over 40 participants from various state and nonstate stakeholders including youths and women groups from the nine counties of Jonglei State, Bor IDPs and government UN agencies.
“We’re grateful to NPA South Sudan for this support, it will go a long way in promoting the peace transition, civic space, policy advocacy and Empowerment of Women and Youths in the state,” ISS said in a statement.
The watchdog said the forum shall be convened monthly and comprosed of youth and women representatives from all the counties in the state, faith-based groups, and academics.
“The Electoral and Constitution-making forum is essential in carrying out civic education, civic engagement, and consolidating the voices and contribution of youth, Women and other groups in the processes of Constitution-making and Elections.”
