JUBA — President Salva Kiir directed the newly appointed Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Dr. Paul Nang Majok, who he appointed for the second time, to uphold professionalism in the military.
The President also issued a stern warning against any military interference in the country’s political affairs, including those pertaining to the state and other matters, a statement from his office said.
During the swearing-in ceremony held on Thursday, Kiir urged Dr Paul Nang to prioritize the welfare and well-being of all organized forces.
He reportedly emphasized the importance of embodying integrity, neutrality, and a commitment to reforms, pledging unwavering support for initiatives aimed at modernizing the defense force.
Kiir on Wednesday relieved Gen. Dau Aturjong as CDF of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) and reappointed Gen. Nang to the position he previously held between December 2024 and July 2025.
The outgoing army chief Gen. Dau was appointed as Technical Advisor in the Ministry of Defense and Veterans Affairs.
