BENTIU – Unity State government and humanitarian partners have established Pakur resettlement area in Rubkona County to host people displaced by flooding and people returning from war-torn Sudan.

The Pakur resettlement site is 5000 km square, and will host around 1,000 households, reducing the overcrowding in Rubkona town.

Governor Riek Bim announced the town establishment on Thursday, accompanied by partners IOM, UNMISS, and state government officials to the site.

Acting UNMISS head of field office Stella Abayomi said the peacekeeping mission is committed to strengthened partnership for delivering humanitarian services to needy people.

Governor Bim said the government and partners are seeking durable solution to the displacements crises caused by conflicts and climate disasters.
