JUBA – The Legal Administration and Public Prosecution Attorney has issued an arrest warrant for David Amour, the Press Secretary in the Office of President Salva Kiir, over allegations of “criminal intimidation and defamation.”
In the warrant of arrest dated 2nd September 2025 has asked the Office of the President to release Press Secretary Amuor to face criminal charges of intimidation and defamation.
The suit was brought by a lawyer Josephine Adhet Deng who accused Majur under Sections 245 and 289 of the Penal Code Act, 2008, of the Transitional Constitution of South Sudan.
A letter of request for release by the prosecution attorney reads: “Reference is made to the directives of Investigation Authority due to Criminal Case No. 4223/2025 under section 245/289 Penal Code Act. 2008 opened by complainant Josephine Adhet Deng against David Amour Majur at Northern Police Division.”
“The State Legal Administration is hereby requesting your esteemed office to release the above mentioned person to Northern Police Division for the Purpose of Investigation.”

An arrest warrant then reads: “To any police personnel on duty to arrest the accused. Whereas David Amour Majur stands charged with the offence under section 245/289 Penal Code 2008.
“You are hereby directed to arrest the said person and bring him before the crime officer in charge of the police station.”
The Chief Administrator in the President’s office, to whom the request was directed, has not issued any response.

The alleged evidence of the case originate from a widely circulated audio in which Adhet and Amour are heard in a heated exchange following a social media war of word.
In the Facebook comments, Adhet started attacking Amour, saying “Even a drunk person doesn’t have sense can not comment like that. What kind of stupid comment is that?”
She added: “Go back to your past job which is mandated instead of commenting recklessly.”
Then Amour replied: “You are the stupid person. F*ck you.”
