JUBA – Hundreds of South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) troops are undergoing training in the outskirts of Juba ahead of future deployment to foreign peacekeeping missions.
The training hosted in Wun-Aliet, a former SPLA-IO cantonment site, was inaugurated by Central Equatoria governor Rabi Mujung and army Chief of Defense Forces Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol on Wednesday, August 13.
SSPDF Director of Information and Public Relations Maj. Gen. Lul Ruai said the launch started with the conduct of traditional cleansing rituals by (earthmaster) of the host community that had provided the land.
Lul said Juba county commissioner Emmanuel Tete Ezbon said he was committed to provide more land needed for military use.
UNMISS representative said that the Mission was proud and honored for being one of partners in providing training opportunities.
On his part, Lt. Gen. Ashab Fahasal, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces for Moral and Orientation, reminded the trainees of their main mandate which is the protection of the people of South Sudan, their properties and the territorial integrity of the Republic.
Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol, Chief of Defence Forces of South Sudan People’s Defence ( SSPDF) called on the second batch of the peacekeeping forces to show high level of commitment, resilience and perseverance.
CES Governor Majung also reminded the trainees on the need to observe and maintain the highest levels of military standards as well as embark on in service personal career development and growth in preparations for post service life.
